Fortnite and I are in a love/hate relationship. Partially because the game is so fun to play, but the community is so terrible to play with. I love how much fun I can have with my friends while playing a squads or duo match. On the flip-side, when I hop into a squads match and get dumped on in the first 30 seconds because I can't find any loot, I get pissed.
Most of the game is RNG (Random Number Generation), meaning the game's drops are mostly randomness, and I can't 100% credit me losing instantly to my skills. I have a general idea where most of the chests are in the area that I'm dropping in, but so does 80% of the other players in the lobby, which makes things difficult. Another factor is when you drop from the Battle Bus (the big ol' bus that everyone fly's in on), timing is everything. Dropping a little bit away from your target, dropping your parachute and gliding in is usually the fastest way to get the loot and have a chance to be there first. A death in Fortnite, especially while playing solo, is like a kick in the pants. You work so hard, collect all those resources, shields, and guns, just to have them taken away with one sniper bullet. Don't even get me started about dying in the storm. Sometimes, while playing a match, I feel as if the game just wants me to throw in the towel and leave; whether it be not giving me any guns, shield, or even placing the eye of the storm all the way at the other end of the map from me. But, all bad things come to an end (or something along those lines), and I eventually end up with a hard-earned win. Fortnite is a game I can play anytime, for free, and with up to four of my friends at a time. Season three just started and new in-game collectibles were released. I have probably spent a majority of my time on XBox playing Fortnite, and not for no reason. Fortnite keeps me coming back, even through the thick and thin. As of writing this section of the blog, I have just won yet another match of Fortnite. The exhilaration of a win is unmatched; my palms will never be sweatier then when I finally achieve the win with, "Victory Royale," spanned across my screen. After a well-deserved win, the praise from your teammates rolls in, and you are all for it. Fortnite is just a great game to play but has its downsides, like any other game of course. I will continue to play and develop my skills in-game and hopefully get a little bit better than I am now.
